Doug Jones – General Manager
Doug Jones is responsible for leading the organization into the future, ensuring that the goals of the Badlands Baseball Academy are realized. Doug will also manage all aspects of the Academy’s operations, approves the hiring of all personnel. The General Manager oversees all activities or functions deemed necessary to operate and promote the Academy and the Academy’s supporters (Prairie Rose School Division, Town of Oyen, Special Areas, Oyen and District Multiplex Society) to ensure that all needs are met.
Jeff Amos – Head Coach
Jeff Amos joins the Badlands Baseball Academy from Brantford Ontario. He brings with him 10 years of coaching experience. Starting out with the Brantford Braves of the Junior Inter-county League. Coach Amos helped guide the team to its first ever national championship appearance while finishing top three in the province for three consecutive years. During this time the Edmonton born coach also was named Field Manager of the Inter-county Associations Cannon Cup Midget All-Star team. In two years as manager, Coach Amos led the team in back to back Cannon Cup Ontario Championships. After spending a season with the Mississauga Twins of the IBL he was named manager of the 2011 team before joining the Badlands Baseball Academy.
Over the years Coach Amos has enjoyed the chance to coach and assist several players who have or are currently playing NCAA Div 1 baseball. Also having coached several MLB drafted players, assisting young athletes to find college placements has always been something Coach Amos has enjoyed and excelled at. From running camps to helping start the new Can-Am Reds program, an elite midget program based out of Kitchener Ontario, Coach Amos has always shown a focus to provide players at the high school level the chance to take their skills to the next level.
Joining the Badlands Baseball Academy Coach Amos brings with him a demanding and enthusiastic style of coaching. While spending time at the Academy athletes will also be shown the importance of education, nutrition, and fitness. While along the way Coach Amos and his coaching staff will not only focus on helping to develop great baseball players, but also respectful and hardworking young men.
Elliott Shrive – Assistant Coach
Elliott Shrive made a name for himself while playing with the Guelph Silvercreeks of the Junior Inter-county Baseball League. Over the three years with the program Coach Shrive earned All-Star recognition in each season. Highlighting his career was a national championship victory in 2006 over Quebec where Coach Shrive scored the winning run. While continuing his education at the University of Waterloo Coach Shrive became a two time Ontario University all-star. During his graduating year he was awarded the Outstanding Graduating Athlete award for his success on the field as well as in the classroom. Coach Shrive graduated with honours in Kinesiology and a minor in Anthropology. After playing for two seasons in the Inter-county Baseball League Coach Shrive went on to finish his schooling at University of Western Ontario. Coach Shrive now holds a teaching degree in Physical Education. Coach Shrive will bring a focus to both education and athletics to the Badlands Baseball Academy.
Chad Marshall – Assistant Coach
Chad Marshall also joins the Academy from Ontario and comes as one of the most accomplished Canadian players coming out of college over the last several years. While attending Stony Brook University in Long Island a four year NCAA D1 program, the short stop from Paris built himself an impressive resume. From being named a Freshman All-American to winning back to back conference titles, he helped the Seawolves make consecutive regional tournament appearances for the first time in school history. Over his career Coach Marshall has experienced playing in one of the top rated collegiate summer leagues in Alaska and also has had the chance to represent Canada at the 2010 world university games in Japan. Leaving Stony Brook as one of the programs all-time hits leaders the Badlands Baseball Academy is excited to have Coach Marshall bring his enthusiasm for the game and proven work ethic to the Badlands Baseball Academy.
Blair Kubicek – Coaching Consultant
Blair Kubicek has acted as Project Manager since September 2010, overseeing the renovations work and assisting with the start-up of the operations.
Blair has 20 years of experience, including 15 years of Prairie Baseball Academy in Lethbridge and 5 years at Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, Washington. Prairie Baseball Academy (PBA) is a College based baseball academy for Canadian student athletes. During his time at PBA, 126 students graduated from the two-year program and went on to four-year programs all over North America, including Universities, Colleges and the University of British Columbia. He also had 29 players drafted by major league baseball clubs and 5 players are still playing professional ball. Blair was responsible for all recruiting, travel arrangements, setting up and maintaining the budget for baseball operations, creating baseball camps for local youth, maintaining the buildings and field maintenance, bringing in professional baseball scouts and college and university recruiters. He also designed and oversaw the construction of the baseball field as well as assisted in the design of the field house.
